Welcome to Akatsuki, a site dedicated to providing the romanisation and English translation of alice nine. song lyrics.
Navigation can be found on the right - clicking on the song title brings you to the page containing the romanisation and translation of the song lyrics. Due to copyright infringement concerns, this site does not publish the original Japanese/Kanji lyrics.
The lyrics window should appear as a pop-up. However, if that doesn't happen, then... too bad, I guess? It doesn't really matter anyway, you'll still be able to see the lyrics.

If you take anything from this site and reproduce it in any form, please credit this site and link back to this main page.

UPDATE! 2008 APRIL 16
Lyrics for 'MIRROR BALL' are up! Sorry it took so long, I just started a new job. 'Kiseki' is coming soon.

UPDATE! 2008 MARCH 03
Ah, long time no see. I was in Japan on a long holiday, but I continued translating the album when I got back, and I've finally coded the lyrics and uploaded them onto the site. Enjoy the rest of "Alpha".

UPDATE! 2007 DECEMBER 01
'Kousai' is up now. It's a really heart-wrenching song. I hope you like it too.

UPDATE! 2007 NOVEMBER 30
Has everyone heard the new album yet? I hope you have! Lyrics for 'cosmic world' are up, and the rest of the album will be coming soon.

UPDATE! 2007 NOVEMBER 06
I'm halfway through my exams! I don't have any papers for the next couple of days so I took some time off and finished 'FOLLOW ME'. The lyrics are finally up, thanks for being so patient.
Also, I'm auctioning off some alice nine. tour pamphlets and selling two posters! Please take a look if you're interested (^^)

UPDATE! 2007 OCTOBER 26
... I changed one word in the 'Ruri no Ame' translation. It was quite an important word, so I decided to change it back to the literal translation (before this, it was more of an interpretation of it in an English context).
It brings out the flavour of the song so much better now.

UPDATE! 2007 OCTOBER 24
Lyrics for 'TSUBASA.' are up! I abandoned my books to translate the single, please enjoy. This song... it's very inspiring.
'Ruri no Ame' is also done. It's a very sad and touching song. I'll try to finish the third song soon, please be patient.
Also, lots of thanks to fressia_33 for sending me pictures of the lyrics sheet so I could translate the song as soon as possible. ♥

UPDATE! 2007 SEPTEMBER 23
I was just looking at visitor statistics and stumbled onto... subtitled alice nine. PVs! Wow! It was very surprising. It makes me a bit nervous~ after my exams, I'll check every single translation for any mistakes possible!
So there are the subtitled videos that credit the site (thank you so much) and there are those that don't. It's nice to know that the English subs have helped so many more people understand what the songs are about. I feel even more motivated to translate alice nine. lyrics now!

UPDATE! 2007 JUNE 30
I don't know how many times I have to say this, but... why are there always people who don't respect other people's work and selfishly plagiarise?
I'm talking about Michelliej on JREF who has reposted the translations of three songs without credit to the site.
Every week or so I come across something that makes me wonder where the integrity of humanity has gone to. Personally I don't see what's so difficult about adding a line at the end that says where the translations/romanisations are from. It's not just about Akatsuki, there are other translators/designers who have had their work stolen. It really is generosity and pure love for the artist that makes the creators continue to share their work and not just keep it to themselves.
Well, I'm not taking the site down like I had once considered doing if I came across more romanisation/translation-theft. I'm not going to let all the site's readers and the band's fans down just because of one bad apple. (Yes, of course I still have lots of faith in everyone else. ♥ That girl is just an exception.) But I've decided that whenever I come across any future thefts, I'll just report it here. Um, I hope I don't end up with enough names to make a Wall of Shame.
To the rest of you: Thank you for being great site viewers, and thank you if you've ever credited the site! It's thanks to all of you that Akatsuki's so high up on search engines. (Did anyone notice?)

UPDATE! 2007 JUNE 11
'STRAY CAT' is up! I love the nostalgic lyrics, I hope you love them too.
Lyrics for 'THE LAST EMPIRE' are up as well. Don't ask me about the abbreviations, I haven't figured them out either. I'll let you know if I do.

UPDATE! 2007 JUNE 05
I got my copy of 'glare' (vol 3, with alice nine. on the cover!) today, and it had the lyrics for "WHITE PRAYER" in the band score. So here's an early treat: "WHITE PRAYER" lyrics are up!
Also, recently I've been getting emails telling me to translate "WHITE PRAYER". Well, I'd rather do things at my own pace, which means waiting for my CDs to arrive, because I prefer to get lyrics first-hand from my sources (so that we know it's definitely 100% correct). And I always romanise/translate from the original Japanese lyrics. Sorry if I had to turn down anyone's request! >__< Don't worry, I will definitely translate all the songs eventually. =D
But thank you for all the nudges and offers to help. It really shows how much the site's readers care about their fellow fans, which is a marvellous thing. ♥

UPDATE! 2007 MAY 08
Lyrics for 'Gekkou Yoku' are up. The song is from alice nine.'s "DIVE INTO THE SUN" photobook.

UPDATE! 2007 MAY 04
» » Happy Birthday to Hiroto!
The long-overdue lyrics for 'JEWELS' are up! Sorry for the delay, school's been consuming my life lately. And 'JEWELS', like the other two songs on this single, is something of a translation nightmare.
They're awfully gorgeous, though. Please savour them!

UPDATE! 2007 APRIL 07
The interpretation for '"13"' has been edited slightly. I've scanned through the latest SHOXX interview, where Shou reveals that the lyrics are based on the Biblical story of Christ and Judas.
It seems rather fitting that yesterday was Good Friday and tomorrow is Easter Sunday, doesn't it?

UPDATE! 2007 APRIL 05
Lyrics for '"13"' have been edited to fit into the context of the song. A detailed interpretation has been included to explain the song's possible Biblical references.

UPDATE! 2007 APRIL 04
Romanised and translated lyrics for '"13"' (wow, that's a lot of inverted commas) are up!
Just a note: I will not consent to having my romanisations/translations reproduced wholesale in large batches at other sites/forums/etc.
Posting the lyrics to one or two songs (with credit, of course) to share with your friends is perfectly fine, but if you want to use my work as material to boost your own site/forum/etc.'s popularity or content, I will say no. I prefer to keep the traffic for English-translated alice nine. lyrics concentrated at this site, because I watch the site statistics and see where the visitors are coming from. And also for the obvious reason that Akatsuki is a lyrics site, so I would love to keep my work here and nowhere else.
I do hope that all the people who have come (or are going to come) asking about this issue can understand this. Thanks.

UPDATE! 2007 APRIL 01
Happy April Fool's Day! I'm pleased to say that I've finally uploaded the romanisation and translation of 'ROSARIO'. (No, this isn't a joke.)
Sorry for taking so long, but I've been pretty busy these days. The other two translations will take a while more, after I wade through my pile of homework.
In the meantime, please enjoy the (slightly strange) prettiness of 'ROSARIO'!

UPDATE! 2007 MARCH 23
The new single 'JEWELS' was released two days ago, but I'm sorry to say that the translations won't be up very soon. ^^; My CDs will only arrive at around the end of the first week of April, and in the meantime there are no high-resolution scans for me to read the lyrics from. So please be patient! Thank you!

UPDATE! 2007 JANUARY 24
Today is the release of the "HELLO, DEAR NUMBERS" live DVD... To celebrate, Akatsuki has a new layout! Please don't refresh the page too much, it will seriously kill my bandwidth (and that's byebye to the site for the rest of the month). You can view the rest of the pictures here: Shou, Hiroto, Tora, Saga, Nao.
I hope you like the new look. As simple as it is, it's got a rather interesting thought process behind it. I wonder if you can tell what I was trying to convey?

UPDATE! 2007 JANUARY 12
A belated Happy New Year... and happy first anniversary to the site!
Since this is such a special day, I decided that the important decision mentioned previously, which everyone helped to make, will be implemented today. As of now, Akatsuki no longer publishes the original Kanji/Japanese lyrics on the site. Further updates may come later.
Thank you for your understanding.

UPDATE! 2006 DECEMBER 25
Merry Chistmas! On this big day, I come with a pressing issue that needs your urgent feedback.
Please visit this page to fully understand the issue, and respond to the poll. Thank you.
Also, I'm selling some posters and lots of flyers (122 different ones) here at my LiveJournal. Please take a look if you're interested!

UPDATE! 2006 DECEMBER 07
Some changes will be taking place within the 'Akatsuki' subdomain. Don't worry, it isn't much of a change for this site, just an addition of a splash page.
Recently, a lot of visitors have been leaving comments in the guestbook. Thank you for your kind words!

UPDATE! 2006 OCTOBER 22
We've hit 100 guestbook entries!
Thanks, everyone~ This is a very fantastic moment.

UPDATE! 2006 MAY 07
Finally, it ends. "VELVET" is up, concluding the fresh batch of 'Zekkeishoku' lyrics.
People on the LJ alice_nine community and suscribers of the mailing list know that I actually finished all the translations more than a week ago, but I wanted to spread them out so that readers would have time to really... look at them. Please do the lyrics justice by truly savouring them.
I'm auctioning off A9 CDs (all unopened/first press releases), please take a look if you're interested.

UPDATE! 2006 MAY 04
» » Happy Birthday to Hiroto!
The long-awaited lyrics for "Q." and "ARMOR RING" are up. Thank you for being patient (mostly).
To top it all off, the last song will be up on Sunday. I do hope that spreading out the updates has helped all of you to appreciate these lyrics better...

UPDATE! 2006 MAY 01
Another 2 songs... full lyrics for "jelly fish" and "WORLD END ANTHOLOGY" are up. Amazingly pretty, please take a look!
By the way, I've been looking around and what I'm seeing is not making me very happy. So now the rules have changed - credit is a must. If you use lyrics from this site, please at least acknowledge it and link back. It's a basic courtesy, isn't it?
Also, thank you to F . i zz!glitter on Batsu Forums, I'm grateful. =) Drop me an email, okay? It'll be nicer if I can thank you personally.

UPDATE! 2006 APRIL 28
A9's first full album 'Zekkeishoku' was released two days ago! They've done amazingly well (#4 on the Oricon Daily Chart), so let's celebrate with a few fast translations. I just got my copy of the album today, anyway. Full lyrics (kanji, romanisation and translation) for "CORONA", "Haru, Sakura no Koro" and "DEAD SCHOOL SCREAMING" are up! The rest will be coming in due time, please be patient.

UPDATE! 2006 FEBRUARY 26
Full translated lyrics for the 'FANTASY' single are up, and tiny adjusments have been made to the translations done the previous time.
Join the mailing list!

UPDATE! 2006 FEBRUARY 24
Full translated lyrics for the 'Akatsuki/Ikuoku no CHANDELIER' single are up. Yes, the song that the site is named after is finally here! I just got my CDs today, but I couldn't resist starting on the translations.
New! A site mailing list has been created. If you want to receive email updates whenever new translations are put up, please join the mailing list. (It makes things easier for regular visitors!)

UPDATE! 2006 FEBRUARY 05
Complete lyrics for the latest single 'Kuuron -NINE HEADS RODEO SHOW-' (released on 2006 January 25) have been added. Sorry for the delay, the CD took a considerable while to get here.

UPDATE! 2006 JANUARY 12
Layout complete, site opened. All lyrics up and accessible. Lots of thanks go to Kibou for hosting this site and getting it all up!

THE BAND: ALICE NINE.
alice nine. is a five-member visual kei Japanese rock band comprising of Shou (vocals), Hiroto (guitar), Tora (guitar), Saga (bass) and Nao (drums). They formed in 2004 and have been regularly releasing new material since then. Currently, they are signed under the PSCompany label. For more information, please visit their official site. All original Japanese lyrics belong to the band and no one else (except perhaps their label).

THE SITE
This site is hosted by Kibou. Let's all love her lots!
It's named after the band's "Akatsuki" single, which is also their first anime theme song. Some time ago, I began translating alice nine. songs for personal reasons, but later on I decided to put them all somewhere, which turned out to be here. Sorry for the simple layout - I don't like html, and I'm more concerned about the content.
All translations here are done by me (Jiayan), and I'm not a native speaker of Japanese. Much thanks to all the people who helped with the translations and this site!

DISCLAIMER
As mentioned above, all original Japanese lyrics belong to the band, alice nine., and their management.
The translator's Japanese isn't anywhere near fluent, but the translations are probably more reliable than anything passed through an online translator. (At least I hope so.)
I am not making any money from doing this. Everything here was done out of personal interest.

JOIN THE SITE MAILING LIST
For the convenience of the site's regular guests, a mailing list has been created. Suscribers will receive email updates when new translations are put up, as well as information about other site issues that may crop up in the future.
It is a highly-recommended service, because you won't have to keep checking back for new translations. All you have to do is wait for the occasional email telling you about the latest site update. Easy, isn't it?
